At about 2:10 a.m. this morning, Flagler deputies responded to a shooting call in Palm Coast. Historic City News has learned that one of the two robbers engaged in the home invasion was shot by the resident and killed at the scene; while a second has thus far escaped capture.
Information has continued coming in throughout the day today as the manhunt continues and the identities of the parties involved are released to the press.
According to Deputy George Bender, the break-in to the occupied residence at 3-A Frank Place in Palm Coast, occurred about 1:30 a.m.
The neighborhood is located between I-95 and Old Kings Road North, Matanzas Woods Parkway and Palm Coast Parkway to the south. According to data provided by SpotCrime at CrimeReports.com, the area suffers higher than average incidence of criminal activity with 46 calls for service in the past 30 days.
The 9-1-1 caller stated that an unknown man burst into their residence through their unlocked front door. The man was apparently armed with a gun. According to the police report, the caller said that a roommate shot the man who was now lying on the ground. The gun carried by the intruder had been kicked away from him.
Bender advised additional units responding to check the area for a second male suspect that fled the scene. The only description available was that the man was possibly wearing a white tank top and some type of mask or cloth covering his face. At about 3:10 a.m., Bender assisted Deputy Tarczewski and his K-9 “Tag” with an unsuccessful search of the area.
The search and investigation is continuing.
