St Augustine memorial service being held for Dr Robert Hayling

Public Memorial Service for Robert B. Hayling, DDS, hailed as the Father of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, has been announced by his Sister, Yvonne Hayling-Clarke.

A public celebration of Dr. Hayling’s life will be held on Saturday, February 20th, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul AME Church, located at 85 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue in St. Augustine, led by Rev. Ron Rawls, Pastor.

Hayling was a leader in the St. Augustine Civil Rights Movement, having worked as Youth Council Advisor to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in St. Augustine, and later, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. He passed away at home December, 2015.

A Private Funeral was held in Ft. Pierce, FL on Monday, January 18th, 2016: the National Holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
