Two Jacksonville residents charged with trafficking cocaine

Historic City News was informed by the St Augustine Police Department that, at about 2:19 a.m., an officer on routine patrol observed a red Ford Explorer leave a local business on King Street.

The officer paced the Explorer as it traveled west on King Street and found it to be speeding. A traffic stop was conducted on the Explorer and its three occupants.

The rear passenger, 38-year-old Robert Lamb of Jacksonville, was speaking to one of the officers who observed what he believed to be a glass cylinder with white residue inside of it. Police instructed Lamb to step out of the vehicle; and, as he exited, they observed a plastic baggie containing large crystal-like rocks.

Because both the items observed appeared to be cocaine, officers handcuffed and detained Lamb at that time. During a pat-down search before placing Lamb into a patrol car, officers discovered more suspected cocaine in a Newport cigarette box in his possession.

The front passenger and owner of the vehicle, Kay Harris, had a green purse in her possession. When searched, officers discovered that the purse contained three more baggies of suspected cocaine.

Upon weighing the substance, Harris was found to be in possession of 48 grams of cocaine and Lamb was in possession of 36.5 grams of cocaine.

It was determined that the driver, Terrica Law, was not in possession of cocaine and she was released by police at the scene.

During the investigation it was revealed that Lamb had outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Harris and Lamb were both taken to jail, where Harris remains in custody in lieu of $25,000 bond. Lamb is being held without bond in the St Johns County Detention Facility.
