Willie Galimore Community Pool extends summer swimming

St. Augustine’s new Public Information Coordinator, Melissa Wissel, reported to Historic City News this morning that First Coast YMCA will extend operation of the Willie Galimore Community Center pool with an amended schedule until the first day of October.

Traditionally, the pool’s summer season concludes on Labor Day, the first Monday in September, but Wissel says don’t put away your swimsuits and pool towels just yet.

“The first day of school was last week, and that signaled the official end of summer for many local families,” Wissel told local reporters. “But through an agreement with our pool operators, First Coast YMCA, the community gets a bit of an extension on their summer fun.”

Now through Saturday, October 1, 2016, the pool hours are:

• Monday, Wednesday, Friday:
  Open 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
• Tuesday, Thursday:
  Open 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
• Saturday:
  Open 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
• Sunday:
  Open 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
