Historic City News readers are invited to attend when, for the second year in a row, The Museum Store at the Lightner Museum participates in Museum Store Sunday on November 25, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
This initiative, joined by more than 700 Museum Stores representing all 50 states and the District of Columbia, ten countries, and three continents, will offer inspired shopping at museums and cultural institutions and supports funding for ongoing educational programs and exhibitions.
“We are thrilled to be participating in this year’s Museum Store Sunday and to be able to interact with our patrons and the community,” said Janice Phelan, Lightner Museum Store Manager. “This year, we are excited to offer this special shopping experience for our visitors, and to show case broad assortments of highly curated, unique, mission-specific gifts.”

During this day, Lightner Museum patrons are invited to enjoy a mimosa bar, hot coffee and donuts, as well as live music, while perusing the museum store. Members will receive 25% off store purchases, and visitors will receive 15% off their store purchases. Museum admission ticket holders can receive 15% off their check at the Café Alcazar. Also, the first twenty-five patrons to show their admission ticket to a museum store clerk will receive a gift.
Ione Saroyan, President of the MSA Board of Directors and Director of Merchandise Operations at The New York Historical Society Museum and Library, continued, “After the success of 2017, we are excited to have a number of great institutions be part of Museum Store Sunday. This initiative gives people a chance to support local businesses, give back to the community through local non-profit museums, support good causes, find unique holiday gifts, and enjoy an entertaining and educational experience at favorite museums, all at the same time.”
About the Lightner Museum
The Lightner Museum is housed in the former Alcazar Hotel built in 1888 by Henry Flagler. Today it is home to one of the best collections of fine and decorative 19th century art in the country. The Museum is open to the public seven days a week and features self-guided tours, tours by reservation for adults and children, and demonstrations of antique mechanical musical instruments.
