The roadway reopened to traffic at the entrance to the Coquina Crossing subdivision on SR-207 at about 10:00 p.m. last night; after troopers concluded a three-hour investigation of the serious crash occurring when a vehicle attempted to make a left turn into on-coming traffic.
Sergeant Kenneth Mark Boatright Jr reported to Historic City News that the collision happened at approximately 6:26 p.m. A 2008 Cadillac CTS driven by 88-year-old Francis Drozdick of Milton, Massachusetts, was traveling southbound on SR- 207 at Coquina Crossing Drive.
When Drozdic made the left turn, he crashed into a 2016 Ford Van driven by 33-year-old Keith A Everette of Jacksonville. Drozdic suffered serious injuries when his vehicle came to a final rest in a retention pond. His passenger, 83-year-old Mary Ann Trupe of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, was reported in critical condition.
Although Everette only sustained minor injuries, the occupants from both vehicles were transported to Flagler Hospital for treatment.
All occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. No information has been released regarding pending charges.
