Media Relations Officer Kevin Kelshaw reported a motor vehicle collision to Historic City News that occurred in a Julington Creek Plantation neighborhood last night involving an 11 year-old boy and his dog.
The collision occurred shortly before 9:00 p.m. Thursday on Inkberry Lane when the victim and his dog were struck by a 2002 Lexus SUV being driven by a 16-year old girl.
According to the report, the victim was walking his dog southbound when the driver drifted over; striking the boy and his dog with her vehicle.
The boy was treated for minor injuries by St Johns County Fire Rescue on the scene and released to his grandparents. His dog was killed in the collision.
The teenage girl did not sustain any injuries and St. Johns County Traffic Unit investigators say speed was not a factor. The girl was cited for failing to use due care while operating a motor vehicle.
