The St. Johns County Main Library and Bayview reported to Historic City News that each month a seminar will be presented by physicians, pharmacists and other licensed health professionals as part of a monthly health information series.
These high caliber programs are free and open to the public.
The first program is “Osteoporosis and You…Information is Power” scheduled for Thursday, October 15th, at 1:00 p.m. at the Main Library.
The presenters will be Dr. Ernest Carames, M.D., and physical therapist Lee Spannhake.
Osteoporosis is a debilitating disease in which bones become fragile and are more likely to break. In most cases, the disease can be prevented and treated, but if steps are not taken, it progresses painlessly until a bone breaks.
The discussion will include diagnosis, nutrition, safe exercises and current medications recommended to treat osteoporosis.
The Health Information Series will continue monthly at the Main Library, with the November program focusing on the flu.
