Flagler students pass by First United Methodist Church at the corner of King and Riberia Streets; Historic City News readers in St. Augustine have come to recognize the approach of the fall holiday season by the “pumpkin patch” that returns every year.
The first pumpkins of the season arrived yesterday afternoon about 4:00 p.m., and were unloaded from the delivery truck by youth volunteers from the church — compensated with hot dogs and drinks.
Before you know it, the Indian corn, dried corn stalks and other home decorating essentials for Halloween and Thanksgiving will line the street. The Christmas trees can’t be far behind.
Church members are asked to volunteer to help sell the pumpkins and sign-up sheets will be in the Fellowship Hall.
The landmark protestant church located at 118 King Street was established in 1825.
