The deadline for prospective candidates to submit petitions to the Supervisor of Elections for verification in all Statewide, County, Special District & Municipal contests is noon on Monday, May 19, 2008.
Candidates may obtain signatures representing at least 1% of the total number of registered voters of the geographical area represented by the office sought for the last preceding general election (2006) in lieu of paying qualifying fees or party assessments.
With the exception of write-in candidates, those who come forward after the Monday deadline seeking election to State, Multi-County, County, District & Political Party Executive Committee seats will be required to pay the established qualifying fees for the office sought.
The qualifying period for those seats is noon, June 16, 2008 through noon, June 20, 2008.
