Historic City News readers are encouraged to come and join in on the Christmas atmosphere at the “Music and Barn Dance at the Museum” event this month — featuring Bluegrass, Country, Folk and Gospel.
“Bring your banjo, dobro, fiddle, harmonica, mandolin, guitar, gut bucket, (empty) moonshine jug, dulcimer, washboard, or upright bass and jam!” says Music Events Coordinator and Historical Interpreter James D. Fiske.
The events will take place at the Caldwell Dairy Barn on Saturday, December 19th, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
The Barn Dance starts at 5:00 p.m. featuring the Jackson Creek String Band with Roy Moye doing the calling and will be joined by the Morse Family Band. The music event has an admission charge of $5.00 Adults/ $3.00 Children.
Fiske said, “Don’t play? Bring your voice, dancin’ shoes or just come and listen!”
Concession stand will be open during the event – selling hot dogs, hamburgers, sodas, popcorn and more. Come early and take a tour of the museum – meet the cracker cows, horses and piney woods rooters! Tour prices are an additional $5.00 adults – $3.00 Children ages 3-12. Ask about riding lessons and trail rides!
According to Fiske, this will be the last of the 3rd Saturday of the month events. “Starting in January 2010, we will be changing to every 4th Saturday of each month”, Fiske said.
