Officer William Protami responded to the 55th block of Lewis Blvd Monday where Historic City News has learned of a reported burglary to a residence.
The homeowner advised Protami that someone broke into her home sometime Sunday, December 13th, while it was unoccupied. The homeowner was unaware of the burglary until she found some items out of place.
The screen to the bathroom window was discovered missing. The homeowner checked her jewelry and reported about $1,000 of it missing. Also missing was a change jar that contained approximately $50 in coins.
During the investigation, a ladder belonging to the homeowner was found to have been moved from her yard to the second story bathroom window.
That window was the entry and exit point, according to police. Evidence was taken from the scene and Community Affairs Officer Barbara Clifford of the St. Augustine Police Department reports that the investigation is ongoing.
