Today is the last day of school for two-year-olds through pre-kindergarten students at Trinity Episcopal Learning Center; and, the last of a three-day “Water Day” celebration of summer, Director Tammy Walthall told Historic City News in St Augustine this morning.
Sponsored by Trinity Episcopal Parish, located on the corner of King Street at 215 St George Street, the landmark church prepares young children in a loving, Christian environment to reach their potential before entering kindergarten, Walthall said.
But, today is about cupcakes and cookies and a lawn toy I remember from my own childhood growing up at Vilano Beach — the WHAM-O Slip N’ Slide.
As the trees provided some shade from the early morning sun, kids, teachers, chaperones and parents seized the day; enjoying a water-infused rock climb, wading pool, and just about anything else that you could stick a water hose in.
“We use a well-rounded developmental curriculum created for the young child’s special ways of learning,” Walthall said. And, at least today, everybody is learning to get wet.
