Historic City News invites our local St. Johns County readers to attend an opening reception for “Painting the Region: The Bartram Trail” will be held prior to the St. Johns County Commission meeting on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
This cultural event will be held in the St. Johns County Administration Rotunda Gallery of the County Administration Building located at 500 San Sebastian View in St. Augustine. Light refreshments will be served.
The Men’s Chorus from Bartram Trail High School, under the direction of Choral Director, Barbara Mattingly, will perform at 8:45 a.m.
The opening will also showcase the talents of high school students from the northwest region.
The beauty and talents of northwest St. Johns County will be showcased in the exhibit from April 20th until July 9, 2010.
The artwork is from The North Florida Land Trust’s collection of works created during Painting the Region, the week-long art event held during October 2009 in and around the Julington Creek area.
The works were painted at locations along the Bartram Scenic and Historic Highway, State Road 13, five miles south of Mandarin and the Julington Creek Bridge.
Director Philip McDaniel said, “The St. Johns Cultural Council thanks The North Florida Land Trust for the loan of the exhibit and the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners for providing a public venue to share local art with the local community.”
