Cannabis with an estimated street value of $157,000 was confiscated from a 47-year-old St Johns County man by officers with the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office and the Tri-County Narcotics Task Force when they executed a search warrant at his home this morning.
Investigators seized 157 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, and a stolen shotgun, from two separate buildings located on the property, Sheriff’s spokesman Kevin Kelshaw told Historic City News.
Michael Shane Colvin, who resides at 6891 Tammy Lane in St Augustine, was booked into the St Johns County Detention Facility at the Neil J Perry Criminal Justice Complex and charged with cultivation of the controlled substance. He was released this afternoon after posting a $5,000 appearance bond.
An anonymous tip developed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement sponsored High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, led investigators to the residence in which they discovered an elaborate marijuana growing operation.
The residence was secured by the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team while investigators collected evidence during the search. Additional charges are pending further investigation.
