Zelda Crafton reported to Historic City News that earlier this afternoon, storms brought hailstones the size of golf balls at her residence west of St Augustine.
At around 2:30 p.m., Crafton, who is the mother of St Johns County Supervisor of Elections, Vicky Oakes, collected the hail from her front yard on Isherwood Terrace.
St Augustine was under tornado alerts this evening and the threat of severe storms will increase and become more widespread throughout tonight.
