Historic City News readers interested in the new overpass being built over US-1 North and the FEC Railroad tracks to support the east-west traffic along CR-210, are invited to attend a “drive through” construction Open House” this afternoon beginning at 4:00 p.m.
The Florida Department of Transportation staff and its contractor want to make it easier for drivers to get information about the new project, and they will be on hand to answer questions and show how the new overpass is being built.
“For the last month workers have been clearing the land on both sides of where the overpass will be built,” said FDOT District Two Public Information Director, Gina Busscher. “We want drivers in the area to understand that, during the next year, there will be times that traffic will be detoured off of US-1 and onto I-95 as the new overpass is completed.”
If you plan to attend this afternoon, the open house tent will be will be set up in the northeast corner of the parking lot of the Gate Station; located at the corner of US-1 and Valley Ridge Boulevard, Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The construction is now easily seen from US-1 and CR-210, so the FDOT hopes to take advantage of the extra traffic driving through the area for the Players Championship golf tournament in Ponte Vedra Beach to inform the public about what many area residents say is the long overdue alignment of CR-210.
