The Ham Radio operators of the Flagler Emergency Communications Association informed Historic City News that they will establish a nationwide communications platform simulating emergency conditions for 24 hours; beginning at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22nd.
Chairman James A Burnsed, Jr., W4LJB, told reporters that the emergency simulation is part of the American Radio Relay League’s National Field Day.
No advance arrangements are necessary to observe the simulation being performed by Ham Radio operators, licensed by the Federal Communications Commission.
Tours of the operation, are being staged at the Flagler Beach Fire Department Headquarters, located at 320 South Flagler Avenue in Flagler Beach and will provide an opportunity for visitors to learn more about Ham Radio. The free tours are available throughout the simulation period on a “drop by” basis.
