Historic City News local broadcast news partner, Newstalk WFOY, held a groundbreaking ceremony after receiving its construction permit from the Federal Communications Commission, according to an announcement from local Station Manager, Matt Kraycinovich.
The groundbreaking ceremony signals the imminent broadcast of WFOY programming on the FM dial at 102.3 FM as well as the local favorite, 1240 AM.
“This is an important day in the long history of WFOY which has served St Johns County for over 75 years,” commented Kris Phillips, President of Phillips Broadcasting. “As our coverage area grows to include Duval, Putnam, Clay and Flagler Counties, our commitment to serving all of St Johns County remains as strong as when WFOY first signed on the air.”
Joining in the ceremony held at the radio station on Lewis Point Road in St Augustine, County Commissioner Ron Sanchez, Station Owner Kris Phillips, Vice Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners Bill McClure, veteran WFOY talk show host Kerry McCarthy, and President of the St Johns County Chamber of Commerce Kirk Wendland.
