Thieves in possession of credit cards stolen from a Grant Street woman’s car are beginning to show up at businesses around St Augustine and police are asking Historic City News readers for assistance in identifying those responsible for the crimes.
The victim told police that she left her purse on the front seat of her car when she returned home at about 9:30 p.m. — but she does not remember if she locked the vehicle or not before going inside. She left for work the following morning at about 5:00 a.m.
“So far, fraudulent purchases totaling $1057 have been reported to detectives investigating this crime,” police spokesman Mark Samson told reporters. “Surveillance camera evidence has been collected showing a white male and two black males in a white sedan, possibly a BMW, using one of the stolen credit cards to obtain gasoline.”
Anyone with any information concerning this crime or who may know the identity of those involved is asked to contact the St Augustine Police Department at 904.825.1070. You can remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a cash reward up to $1000 by calling CrimeStoppers of Northeast Florida at 1-(888) 277-TIPS.
