Historic City News has learned that the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office is holding three men in custody following an early morning strong-arm robbery that occurred in the area of Jellison Road in St Augustine Beach.
42 year-old Curtis Bernard Harris, 20 year-old Andrew John Karabinchak and 21 year-old Dominik Ray Cunningham are all in the county jail this morning awaiting a first appearance hearing before a judge.
Harris is being held in lieu of $10,000.00 bond on second degree felony robbery charges.
Karabinchak is being held on a total of $6000.00 bond — first degree misdemeanor larceny charges $1,000.00 and second degree felony robbery charges $5,000.00.
Cunningham is being held in lieu of $5,000.00 bond on second degree felony robbery charges.
The 18 year-old white male victim, reported to deputies that he was assaulted by four or five attackers who struck him on the left side of his head during the robbery. The victim says one of the attackers forcibly took his brown wallet containing about $70.00.
The victim recognized one of the occupants of the vehicle used in the robbery and was able to identify him by his first name. As the robbers fled the scene, the victim used a pocketknife to strike the hood of the vehicle. The victim described the vehicle as a grey Nissan Maxima GLE with black interior.
Responding to the description given by the victim, Deputy Jiminez spotted a suspect vehicle occupied by a driver and three passengers, heading south on Old Moultrie Road. Jiminez stopped the vehicle and observed three scratch marks on the hood, consistent with being struck with a pocketknife, and noted that the interior of the vehicle was black.
The victim was brought to the location where he identified three of the four occupants — the fourth occupant was released and the remaining three were taken into custody.
