If you are one of the lucky ones to land a parking space inside the Historic Downtown Parking Facility adjacent to Francis Field, don’t think it comes without restrictions — because it does.
The City of St Augustine covets one of the few income opportunities it has during the Gentlemen of the Road Stopover event, Friday and Saturday, September 13th and 14th; the right to charge for parking.
Public Affairs Director Paul Williamson described the parking garage to Historic City News today as, “the most close-in and convenient parking” for the weekend concerts.
First, if you have an assigned parking pass, entry to the parking garage will be permitted only from San Marco Avenue and you must arrive and park your vehicle before 8:00 p.m.
Next, vehicles will not be allowed re-entry on the same day — so once you park it, you are not free to come and go as you please; at least not with your vehicle.
There is a tertiary restriction; no vehicles will be permitted to exit the facility – at all – one hour before and one hour after the closing of the day’s events. Between 10:00 p.m. and 12:00 midnight, you are stuck.
The cost of a one-day parking spot is $30. They must be ordered online in the same manner as the shuttle bus passes. Spaces in the Historic Downtown Parking Facility went on sale Sunday; and, according to Williams, they are selling out quickly.
The limited parking spaces may be ordered with your credit card until they are sold out by visiting THIS LINK FOR 9/13 or THIS LINK FOR 9/14.
St Augustine Historical Tours, the operators of the Green Trolleys, are also making parking available in their San Marco Avenue attraction parking lots. VISIT THIS LINK FOR PARKING OPTIONS as low as $20. Shuttle passes are still available.
