St Augustine Streets and Grounds Manager, Charlene Putz, has alerted Historic City News that the south stretch of Avenida Menendez, from King Street south to St Francis Street, will be closed to traffic beginning Monday, January 13, and continuing through Friday, January 17.
Resurfacing, to complete the recent restoration and renovations along the seawall, will require that all vehicles be off the street by 7:00 a.m. each day in order for the work to remain on schedule. Vehicles still present after 7:00 a.m. will be towed at the owner’s expense.
“The work will begin each day at 7:00 a.m. and end by 5:00 p.m.,” according to Putz. “Parking will be permitted after 5:00 p.m. each day, but all vehicles have to be gone by 7:00 a.m.”
There will be a “maintenance of traffic” plan to direct traffic flow during construction with minimal street closures anticipated. Nonetheless, the public should plan to avoid the area, if possible, to avoid delays. The public’s patience and cooperation is appreciated.
