The St. Johns Cultural Council has announced that they have retained the services of Smith Creative Consulting, LLC, in Jacksonville, and appointed its founder, Jeffrey A Smith, as their Director of Strategic Partnerships.
In June of this year, Smith registered his consulting company with the Division of Corporations; capitalizing on his experience as a non-profit leader and arts educator. In addition to St. Johns Cultural Council, Smith lists some of his clients as, Duval Art Teachers Association, “STILL” Alumni Assembly, Jacksonville Arts and Music School, and The Performers Academy.
In a press releases distributed by the Cultural Council, Smith is quoted saying that he is very excited about strengthening “capacity building efforts” and “providing additional support for local artists and arts organizations.”
Prior to moving to Jacksonville four years ago, he taught music in South Carolina and New York. Under his new agreement, he will be expected to support the mission of the Cultural Council and its work in enriching the lives of residents and tourists through arts and culture.
Smith earned a BFA in music education from Long Island University and an MS in music education from Western Connecticut as well as a professional diploma from The College of New Rochelle for school district leadership.
Smith served as associate director of Cathedral Arts Project in Jacksonville for three years, leading the program staff and 50 teachers and teaching assistants. The Cultural Council reported that during that time, he oversaw program research, faculty development, strategic partnerships, and led the expansion of after school, summer, and school day arts programs.
More recently he served as executive director of City Year Jacksonville during its Founding Year.
