Today, at the Marywood Retreat and Conference Center, Historic City News was informed that the twenty-two participant 2015 class of “Leadership St. Johns” began an 8-month program designed to help them learn about St. Johns County through participation.
During the leadership program presented by the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce, participants will get to meet with policy makers, learn the dangers of a policeman’s job, and see the work being done by St. Johns County’s social service organizations.
“Each of the 22 applicants that have been selected have made a significant commitment of their time and talents to broaden their knowledge base and strengthen their ability to lead,” program manager, Carol Saviak, told local Historic City News reporters. “The participants were chosen from a much larger pool of qualified applicants who work in different industries and in different capacities.”
Each Leadership class is asked to create and execute a service project. The most recent class organized a volunteer event connecting nearly 350 volunteers with local not-for-profits. The 2015 Class first came together at an alumni reception in October. The program will culminate with graduation in June 2015.
