A new exhibit is coming to the Rotunda Gallery at the St. Johns County Administration Building featuring original works from Scott Waters “Faces and Places” series. The collection of art will be on display from December 2nd through January 22, 2015.
Historic City News readers are invited to attend a free opening reception scheduled Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. inside the Rotunda Gallery located at 500 San Sebastian View in St. Augustine. Light refreshments will be served.
“Faces and Places combines the portrait and landscape paintings of Scott Waters, a local artist who works in both traditional acrylic paints and digital computer media,” according to an announcement from the St Johns Cult Council. “Waters is a commercial artist, audio engineer and computer geek, who attended Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota; majoring in Commercial Art and Illustration.”
Thereafter, the exhibit is open to the public from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the St. Johns County Administration Palace.
Waters has concentrated on painting digitally with his iPad, recently producing a series of portraits of local musicians and landscapes that combine classic techniques with contemporary media while maintaining the quality of traditional painting.
Waters’ work has been shown at Maui’s Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center, The Crossroads Art Center in Richmond Virginia, Butterfield Too Gallery, and Tim’s Wine Market in St. Augustine and on his iPad to anyone interested. He is a founding member of the Anonymous Society of Artists — a local group involved in events, shows, plein-air sessions and new media.
