St. Augustine Mayor Nancy Shaver has informed Historic City News that on Saturday, March 7th, the mayors of twenty coastal cities in Florida and southeast Georgia will join her in opposition to seismic testing in waters off the coast of the two states.
Shaver will hold a media conference to be televised, broadcast on local radio stations, and published live by Historic City News as it happens.
“Our guests accepted my invitation to come to St Augustine to reaffirm our collective stance — opposing offshore seismic testing,” Shaver told Historic City News editor Michael Gold. “Resolutions have been adopted by the twenty municipalities whose mayors will attend.”
The chief elected city officials in the coastal communities along Florida’s east coast will meet on the lawn in front of City Hall, located at 75 King Street in St Augustine on Saturday, March 7th at 12:30 p.m.
Mayor Shaver has invited public comments on her facebook and twitter feed or through her website or by e-mail at nshaver@citystaug.com.
