Model Land neighbors join mayor for walk

Yesterday afternoon, city residents in the Flagler Model Land neighborhood, including a number of Historic City News readers, participated in Mayor Shaver’s first “Walks with The Mayor” event.

The low-impact walks provide exercise and a great way to enjoy the beauty of our local neighborhoods, at street-level. You also get to share ideas and ask questions of St Augustine’s mayor in the casual comfort of your own neighborhood.

“I really love being around other city residents while enjoying the beautiful outdoors, I am already looking forward to many more walks with all of you,” Shaver told the participants and local reporters. “The neighborhood for the next walk isn’t certain just yet, but, it will be on the April 29th, and I’ll update my website and facebook with the meeting spot.”

This time, Mayor Shaver met the walkers at the First United Methodist Church and picked up a couple of extra participants who joined in along the route.
