Historic City News was notified Monday morning of the arrest of a Hastings woman; after the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office obtained a warrant charging her with felony use of personal identification information by fraud.
Charged in the crime was 44-year-old Eleanor Ann Wilson, whose resides at 8765 Hastings Boulevard. She was booked into the County Jail yesterday — then released that afternoon after posting $10,000 bond.
Financial Crimes Detective Henry Miller began the investigation in March of this year when an Ohio woman reported that her personal information was being used by a woman in St. Johns County.
The investigation revealed that Wilson had allegedly accessed the 42-year old Akron, Ohio, woman’s Social Security number and between November 2003 and February of this year, obtained credit from six different creditors to open charge accounts and loans with the Ohio woman’s personal information.
Wilson is accused of leaving unpaid balances on those accounts totaling over $19,000 and causing a devastating impact to the victim’s credit. It was reported that some of the creditors are attempting to hold the victim responsible for the debts authorities say Wilson created.
An arrest warrant was issued last Thursday.
