Rick Dunham addresses Flagler College Forum

Hearst Newspapers Washington Bureau Chief Rick Dunham will be the next speaker in the 2010-2011 Flagler College Forum on Government and Public Policy according to an announcement received by Historic City News this afternoon.

Dunham will speak Oct. 7, at 7 p.m., in the Flagler College Auditorium. His topic will be “How a Radically Different Media World is Changing American Politics.”

Dunham also gives political analysis on several national programs on radio and TV, including ABC, CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer on PBS, XM Satellite Radio, C-SPAN, the BBC, NPR and Fox News Channel. He is the creator and host of the reporters’ roundtable radio program that is broadcast as part of the weekly series From the National Press Club.

Dunham remains on the cutting edge of journalism technology and training as president of the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library, the educational and charitable arm of the National Press Club.

He is a former president of the National Press Club and worked for many years as the national political correspondent for Business Week magazine, covering the White House, Congress and national political trends. He spent seven years in the Washington bureau of the Dallas Times Herald covering politics, Congress and the Supreme Court. Dunham has also written for the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Cleveland Plain Dealer, and he has contributed to three books.

For more than 30 years, the Flagler College Forum on Government and Public Policy has invited nationally recognized journalists and commentators to St. Augustine to discuss issues of importance in regional, state and federal government.

All forums take place in the Flagler College Auditorium, 14 Granada St., at 7 p.m. Forums are free and open to the public, but seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign language interpreters are provided.
