As murder investigation continues — search narrows

St Johns County Sheriff David B. Shoar told Historic City News this afternoon that although his agency has yet to make an arrest in the two homicides that occurred in West Augustine yesterday, it is not because they have no leads.

Here’s what we know at this hour:

Video surveillance and eye witnesses testimony has provided “irrefutable proof” that 36-year-old Johnny Lawrence Williams Jr., whose last known address was 900 block of Kenmore Street in Jacksonville was the lone gunman.

Williams and the female victim, 24-year-old Jamie Antoinette Wilson, were in a domestic relationship. They arrived together in the first block of Rollins Avenue; along with their baby, and a four year old child.

The four got out of the car and placed the infant into a stroller. For unknown reasons, Williams brandished a handgun. He shot and killed Wilson in the front yard. Williams fled the scene in a silver Nissan Rouge.

Williams drove the vehicle to Duval and West 4th Streets in St Augustine. He displayed an assault rifle and allegedly fired multiple shots at three persons:

18-year-old Keiwuan Je’vante Murray; who was found dead at the scene.

28-year-old Brittany Janay Tobler; who sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder and hand and was treated at Flagler Hospital.

3. An unknown male who police do not believe was shot in the hail of gunfire that ensued.

Williams is believed to have made good his escape through the woods. He was armed with the assault rifle. Detectives recovered a handgun from the silver Nissan Rouge, believed to have been used in Wilson’s murder.

Wilson is thought to have stolen a 2001 Ford Contour and drove out of the area. The vehicle believed to be occupied by Johnny L. Williams Jr. was recovered late last night in Duval County. That vehicle has been impounded for forensic examination by the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office lab.

An arrest warrant was obtained through the 7th Circuit State Attorney’s Office and signed by a judge overnight.

Anyone with any information concerning Williams’ whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
