Police promotion: Assistant Chief Barry Fox

Barry E. Fox accepted his promotion to Assistant Chief of Police following a storied career of over 22 years beginning in 1993 as a Patrolman progressing to his current rank of Commander in 2009.

Commander Barry E. Fox of the St Augustine Police Department recently graduated with honors from the prestigious Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy Session #262 in Quantico, Virginia and coincidentally saved a life while doing so. A unique combination of career-earned skills and a simple twist of fate enabled Commander Fox to demonstrate swift response, situational assessment and the rendering of life- saving procedures to a fellow classmate, prolonging his time until additional support and emergency service personnel arrived.

This, along with numerous career accolades led to his selection from a field of five highly qualified candidates to succeed current Chief of Police Loran K Lueders when he retires in late November, 2016

“To have the support of City Manager John Regan and Chief Loran Lueders demonstrates their belief in our commitment to this police force, my desire to lead them and to continue the traditions of excellence established by my mentors here. This is an extremely proud day for my family and me,” said Assistant Chief Fox.
