Historic City News was notified that St Augustine Beach Police Officer Ed Martinez was selected as the top law enforcement officer representing St Johns County last night during CrimeStoppers of Northeast Florida 2016 Annual Awards Honoring Law Enforcement from St Johns, Flagler, and Putnam Counties.
Officer Martinez is assigned as the Crime Prevention Officer for the St Augustine Beach Police Department. He is actively involved in 26 crime prevention and community programs, most often well beyond his regular work hours.
“His commitment to crime prevention, in addition to singlehandedly seeking out other community programs to promote the law enforcement and crime prevention partnership, has earned him the praise and admiration of his coworkers and his crime prevention counterparts with the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office and the St Augustine Police Department,” Police Chief Robert Hardwick told local reporters.
Most notably, Officer Martinez is the liaison for the Prevention Coalition of St Johns, Boys and Girls Club of St Johns, Tobacco Free St Johns, Gamble Rogers Exceptional Students Education, The Homeless Coalition, The St Johns County Council on Aging and many more.
