An armed robbery at Publix Liquors on Tuscan Way near Mill Creek was caught on video Thursday afternoon, and St. Johns County Sheriff David B. Shoar is asking Historic City News readers to attempt to identify the man who committed this crime.
The liquor store clerk told deputies that the robber entered the store shortly after 5:00 p.m. and walked around the store.
The man who committed the robbery, picked up a bottle of whiskey and approached the counter. He demanded that the victim give him the money in the cash register.
At first, the victim told investigators that she thought the subject was joking — however, he brandished a handgun and again demanded the money, again.
The robber took an undisclosed amount of cash, and the bottle of whisky, then fled out of the store.
The victim identified the robber, as confirmed on the store’s surveillance video, as a white male in his 30’s, heavy build, with blonde to strawberry blonde hair. He was wearing a brownish to burnt orange colored “Quick Silver” t-shirt, blue jeans and a light green hat.
A witness observed the man getting into a late model burgundy colored Honda 4-door sedan. It is believed that the robber drove off in the direction of the Murabella sub-division.
