Historic City News readers are patriotically invited to attend the next open meeting of the Saint Augustine Tea Party, Tuesday evening February 27th at 6:30 p.m. in the Village Inn dining room located at 900 North Ponce de Leon Boulevard.
This month’s special guest will be Barry E. Fox, Chief of the St Augustine Police Department. Chief Fox will be addressing the many challenges that he and his officers face in our community.
Fox explained, “The mission of the St. Augustine Police Department is to enforce laws, provide a safe and secure environment, and respond to the changing needs of the community to promote a positive and peaceful quality of life for citizens and visitors within the Nation’s Oldest City.”
Chief Fox moved to St. Johns County in 1979. He is 49-years-old. He began as a patrolman for the St Augustine Police Department in April 1993 and was promoted through the ranks to his current position. Fox was appointed by City Manager John Regan to fill the position upon the retirement of former Chief Loran Lueders.
Fox is a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, St. Johns River Community College and the University of North Florida. In 2016, Fox graduated from Session #262 of the FBI National Academy. Chief Fox also contributes to his community as a volunteer assistant football coach at St Joseph’s Academy.
As always, guest speakers are given the opportunity to answer questions from the floor following their presentation, time permitting. Meetings of the Saint Augustine Tea Party and monthly guest speakers are open to the public without admission. Members and guests are invited to follow the Town Crier Committee on St George Street at their website SaintAugustineTeaParty.org
