Gubernatorial candidate and Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum will return to St Augustine, this time with an entourage from the Florida Democratic Party in Tallahassee. When Gillum visited St Augustine Saturday, March 17, 2018, he was joined by Ronald Rawls Jr in front of a small group gathered in front of the Lightner Museum where he said, “We will remove all symbols of white supremacy from public property”.
This trip, which was not listed on the web calendars of the Florida Democrats or Andrew Gillum, has obtained a two-hour permit allowing them to assemble in the Plaza de la Constitucion and utilize the Gazebo tomorrow, Sunday October 28th, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
In an email delivered to Historic City News, the Andrew Gillum for Governor campaign wrote, “We are so excited to welcome the Florida Democratic Party volunteers to our community event. Looking forward to having you!”
None of the literature, which consisted mostly of facebook postings in various social media groups, gave any specifics what exactly it is that the candidate plans to do for two hours but to describe the “community event” as “an event in St Johns County” being held in the Plaza de la Constitucion, 1 Cathedral Place in St Augustine.
In closing, Gillum does ask participants, “to double your impact, can you bring a friend with you to the event? Just copy the message below and email or text it to your friend, and they’ll receive a unique signup link.”
