The City of St Augustine has announced to Historic City News the names of streets that made its list of hopeful candidates for repaving, including those that require utility work.
These streets are expected to be paved by September 30th, the end of Fiscal Year 2019. They are subject to change or deletion as the year progresses. “Deferred maintenance” has been under close scrutiny this year, in no small part due to today’s election. As with many other problems at city hall in St Augustine, John Regan, city manager, has the authority to rearrange these projects or delete them altogether. Unfortunately, the outdated city charter gives him this authority without requiring him to inform or get approval from the city commission.
