Darby L. Stubberfield, Director of Development with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida, informed local Historic City News reporters that Santa and an elf will participate in a special holiday benefit being held in the Whisper Ridge community.
Each year, an estimated 600-700 people drive by David Israel’s home in western St. Johns County to take in the lights and enjoy the season, making Israel, who is the owner of Honey-Do Cleaning Service, something of a local legend for his home’s brilliant and expansive holiday lighting décor.
This year, through the efforts of the St. Augustine Sunrise Rotary Club, Santa Claus and an elf will be on hand at Israel’s light show to collect donations for THE PLAYERS Championship Boys and Girls Club.
All funds raised will be used toward the purchase of a new bus that will provide transportation for children going to-and-from the Boys and Girls Club.
Santa will appear at the Israel home, located at 217 Whisper Ridge Drive, each Saturday and Sunday before Christmas from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. nightly: December 4th, 5th, 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th. From downtown St. Augustine, take SR-16 one mile west of I-95 and turn left on Whisper Ridge Drive — then drive 1/2 mile to the house.
Donations are also accepted by mail at THE PLAYERS Championship Boys and Girls Club, 555 West King Street, St. Augustine, FL, 32084.
