The St. Johns Cultural Council’s Art Advocate Gallery will open The Figure in Art: Painting, Drawing, and Sculpture on Saturday, January 31, 2009 according to an announcement received by Historic City News today.
There are many ways of sensing, interpreting and presenting the figure, and this juried exhibition will display over 25 artists’ interpretations of the figure.
David Ouellette, former Fine Arts professor and Gallery Director at the Florida School of the Arts, and currently professor of Art History and Art Skills the St. Johns River Community College St. Augustine campus, conceptualized and is the guest curator of the exhibition.
An opening reception for The Figure in Art: Painting, Drawing and Sculpture will be held on Saturday, January 31 from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. The exhibit will be on display through Friday, February 20.
