City Manager invites discussion on property

St. Augustine City Manager John Regan made a point of announcing today that Monday’s city commission meeting will include an “open-ended discussion” regarding the future of the M & M Market property located at Bridge Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.

The city acquired the property late last year as part of a criminal case that led to the foreclosure of the property. The commission will consider possible uses of the property and the city manager wants to be sure all who are interested have the chance to have input.

“This is a keystone property in Lincolnville,” said Regan, “And the city has the opportunity to make a long term impact in Lincolnville’s future by deciding what happens on that corner. The commission is taking this decision seriously and will solicit input from the community, so we hope the community will respond.”

A multi-faceted effort under the umbrella of “Lift Up Lincolnville,” has gained momentum in recent weeks with increased activity in infrastructure projects in that area including extensive sidewalk replacements and the soon to start two-year long rehabilitation of Riberia Street. The St. Augustine City Commission meeting is on Monday, January 24 starting at 5:00 p.m. It is held in The Alcazar Room, first floor of City Hall (the Lightner Building), 75 King Street. The meeting is also broadcast live via The Government Channel (Comcast Channel 3).
