Florida Capital to close US 1 location

According to an announcement from Senior Vice President Suzanne Brown received by Historic City Media this morning, Florida Capital Bank will be closing its location at 1700 US 1 South on Friday, July 18th.

This announcement surprised some customers since the bank location was only established in 2005 on the site of the former Long John Silvers restaurant.

St. Augustine Archaeological Association

The May meeting of St. Augustine Archaeological Association (SAAA) will feature a lecture including a review of work done in 2007 by four Contract Archaeologists.

According to an announcement received by Historic City Media, Mike Arbuthnot: Laser documentation of the A. L. Lewis Arch, Bryan Marks: Historic Roads – Old Dixie & Kings Highway, Greg Smith: Work at Ponce Inlet and Ted Payne: Work at the Three Chimneys property, are scheduled to be presented.

Precautionary Boil Water Notice

The Public Works Department of the City of St. Augustine will be making improvements to the water system in and around the Lewis Speedway area.

This will require a water outage and a possible drop in pressure from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. tomorrow, Wednesday, April 23, 2008.

Costeira Promoted to Captain

A firefighter for the City of St. Augustine for more than 21 years, James (J. C.) Costeira was promoted to the rank of Captain in a ceremony held at the St. Augustine Fire Department on Monday, April 14, 2008.

Costeira, who achieved the rank of lieutenant in July 2000, is shown being pinned for his most recent promotion by his wife, Gay.
