Detectives with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Property Crimes Unit are investigating a burglary that occurred at the Agricultural Center, according to an incident report filed by the center’s director, David Dinkins, early Friday morning.
Stolen was nearly $30,000.00 worth of county owned agricultural equipment including a John Deere tractor; itself worth over $27,000.00.
Lorraine Fleming, wife of Flagler County Sheriff Donald Fleming, died early Saturday morning after waging a courageous battle with cancer according to a notice in the Daytona News Journal.
Fleming, who was 60 and resided in Palm Coast, was known as more than the wife of the sheriff and a homemaker. She made her mark on the community through her support and involvement with several service organizations, those who served with her say.

As more local students and St. Augustine residents consider using their computer’s high-speed Internet connection for making and receiving telephone calls, a potentially lifesaving service that most of us take for granted must also be considered.
POTS, an acronym for “plain old telephone service”, has been used for years to access 9-1-1 operators in fire, police and medical emergencies.

Two female students attending classes at First Coast Technical Institute on Collins Avenue were arrested this week on charges of disruption of a school function; one of whom was also charged with resisting arrest without violence, battery on a school board employee, and violation of probation.

A 17 year old St. Augustine High School student is facing ten days suspension from school after St. Johns County Sheriff’s deputies, aided by K-9 officers, performed “narcotics sniffs†of student vehicles parked on the school campus.
When K-9 “Justice†alerted on the student’s JEEP Cherokee Thursday, a further search was conducted. Deputies discovered a hatchet lodged between the driver’s door and seat.

When a boat and its four passengers capsized in the Atlantic Ocean at Matanzas inlet yesterday, one of those stranded on a sandbar attempted the dangerous maneuver of swimming through the strong currents to shore.
The swimmer quickly got into trouble but luck was on her side.
