Fifth annual conference of publishers and writers

Flagler College and the Florida Literary Arts Coalition are partnering with the Jane’s Stories Press Foundation for the fifth annual “Other Words: A Conference of Literary Magazines, Independent Publishers and Writers” according to an announcement received by Historic City News today.

Current background-screening policies examined

Governor Charlie Crist announced to Historic City News today that he will convene select state agencies charged with reviewing legal requirements for screening individuals to work in facilities that provide care to children, the elderly and persons with disabilities.

Historic City News reports the new local business tax paid each week; this is the tax formerly known as an occupational license. This week, a new trend in retail sales appears to be gaining footing in St. Johns County.

Historic City News learned that the UF College of Veterinary Medicine’s Large Animal Technical Rescue Team, the St Johns County Fire Rescue Special Hazards Operations Team and St. Johns County Animal Control performed joint large animal rescue training this past weekend.
