Bishop of St Augustine will lead Corpus Christi Procession



If anyone in the St Johns County Administrative Palace is paying attention to our neighbors to the south, in an article that appeared in this morning’s Daytona News Journal, Historic City News learned that the Board of County Commissioners in Bunnell are trying to reduce the property tax rate in Flagler County.
St Augustine Lighthouse and Museum Executive Director Kathy A. Fleming, reported to Historic City News that 45 scholarships were awarded for local at-risk students to attend Lighthouse Ancient City Explorers Summer Camp that started today.
Letter: A Near Death in the Julington Creek Pool

Only a few months ago, an adult who had been rescued from the Julington Creek Community Pool, died from his injuries. Just recently a child almost drowned; but, thankfully, a lifeguard was able to rescue the child before another tragedy occurred.
The daughter and son-in-law of an 87-year-old female victim of elder abuse, have turned themselves in to the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office this afternoon, and are in custody at the county jail in lieu of $100,000 bond, each. They are accused of operating a scheme to exploit and defraud the elderly couple of their life savings over the past six years.

Historic City News was informed that Tuesday, June 17th, the City of St Augustine will hold a steering committee meeting to review a revised plan and fee schedule that City Public Affairs director, Paul Williamson, says will see the group, and the community, through the completion of the updated vision statement initiative launched earlier this year.
