On Saturday May 27th, all Historic City News readers are invited to participate in a free glucose and vision screening event being conducted by the Lions Club of St. Augustine.
The City of St Augustine reported to Historic City News that the commission will present Nancy Sikes-Kline with the Adelaide Sanchez Award for Historic Preservation, Restoration, Education and Interpretation at an upcoming regular meeting.
Historic City News was notified by Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Debbie Delgado, that traffic will be impacted at the following
St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.
Be alert to lane closures and temporary detours, as well as increased congestion in these areas. FDOT employees and contractors will be working on the roadways and need your full attention.
At its May 8th meeting, the St. Augustine City Commission introduced Historic City News reporters to a group of graduating seniors from St. Johns County High Schools; nominated by organizations from within their schools to be a recipient of an annual Citizenship Award.
The next ten St Augustine and St Johns County students, grades 1 thru 6, enrolling in Summer Art School at the St. Augustine Art Association may be eligible for a tuition scholarship of $25.00 according to Historic City News Editor in Chief, Michael Gold.

The third annual “Power of the Purse” luncheon will take place on Thursday, May 18th in the historic Ponce de Leon Hall at Flagler College to raise funds for the Women of Vision scholarship.
