Annexation on Commission consent agenda
At Monday night’s meeting of the St Augustine City Commission, several items of interest to Historic City News readers include a second reading and final action on the annexation of two parcels on US-1 north, near the intersections of Lewis Speedway and Ocean Boulevard.





The most consistent and predictable complaint heard from Historic City News readers in St Augustine, has to be parking — finding on-street parking can be a challenge. Available spots in managed lots often require a monthly pass, or are reserved for employees and business customers, or are being fraudulently occupied by former city officials using expired “free parking” passes.
Historic City News was informed that the St. Johns County Visitors & Conventions Bureau honored employees in the local hospitality and tourism industry yesterday during the Bureau’s annual meeting.
As Historic City News editor Michael Gold toured the 450th Commemoration entertainment venues, it wasn’t long before the heat and humidity became a major factor likely to curtail our crew’s enjoyment of the many talented performers included in the lineup.

Historic City News attended this morning’s meeting of the Florida Cabinet, but not in Tallahassee. Attorney General Pam Bondi, Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater, Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam, and Florida Governor Rick Scott, traveled to St Augustine for a special meeting today that included several stops to recognize the accomplishments of St Augustine residents and business owners.
