Movie filming: “The Year of Easter”

Year of Easter
Lights, camera, action… in America’s oldest city. A movie is being filmed in St. Augustine called “The Year of Easter.”

It’s based on a true story about a little Lebanese girl — Yvonne Rice — who grew up in St. Augustine in the 1950s.

Executive Producer Derek Hankerson said, “In the 1950s, we had civil unrest in St. Augustine and throughout the state and U.S. Yvonne’s family was very instrumental in assisting a number of families to include African American families, and they were ostracized for it.”

The independent film is being shot entirely in St. Augustine.

Some of it was filmed in December. More will be done in April and in the summer.

Yvonne Rice and Derek Hankerson are still looking for extras and people who would like to be in the movie. They’re especially looking for baby boys ages two weeks to one year for filming during the week of April 7th – 12th..

If you’re interested, contact Rice at 1-800-383-0353 for an audition appointment.
