Congressman Putnam hosts local meeting

Historic City News was there when Congressman Adam Putnam, now a candidate for Florida Commissioner of Agriculture, hosted a breakfast meeting for citizens and supporters at the St. Augustine Skeet Club.

This morning, County Commissioner Mark Miner, Putnam’s Campaign Chairman in St. Johns County, and the host committee, introduced Congressman Putnam to those who attended the local event.

Congressman Putnam was elected to the U.S. House at 26 years of age after serving two terms in the Florida House.

While in Congress Putnam served as Chairman of the Republican Conference, the third ranking Republican in the U.S. House.

Putnam is a fifth generation Floridian who grew up working on the family farm. According to his website, Putnam brings the values, leadership and sound judgment that reflect the people of our great state.

Mr. Putnam is a native of Bartow, Florida and is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Food and Resource Economics.

Prior to his election to Congress, he worked in his family’s citrus and cattle business and served in the Florida House of Representatives representing the 63rd District from 1996 to 2000; serving as chairman of the Florida House’s Agriculture Committee during his final term.

Recognized as a strong advocate for agriculture, food safety and wildlife conservation, Putnam is also respected for his leadership on economic and national security issues.

Putnam was recently endorsed by Vets for Freedom PAC, which is an organization dedicated to helping candidates who want to see success in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Global War on Terrorism.

Adam and his wife Melissa reside in Bartow with their four children.

The Adam Putnam Campaign Host Committee also includes Jody Adams, Henry Green, Doug Burnett Jr., Cheryl Robitzsch, John Mahoney, Sheriff David Shoar, Henry Dean, Karen Stern, Ellen Avery-Smith, Richard Smith, Ed Paucek, County Commissioner Phil Mays.
