Santa reported to Historic City News that he will make an early visit to St. Augustine this week at the St. Augustine Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Together with assistance from an elf and a member of the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, Santa will make his holiday visit to the 100+ patient rehabilitation center on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 3:00 p.m.
According to Sergeant Chuck Mulligan, approximately half of the patients confined to the center receive no visitors.
Since the early 1990’s, the Sheriff’s Office has coordinated the “Cuddly Care” program; delivering Christmas stuffed animals to the center. During that time, over 33,000 stuffed animals have been handed out.
The cuddly creatures are generously donated by residents of St. Johns County.
