Vehicle hit broadside in Wildwood intersection

Historic City News freelance photographer Christopher Kimball was on the scene of a crash earlier today that sent one person to the hospital — and two vehicles home by way of a tow truck.

A young woman turning her Chrysler convertible into oncoming traffic, collided with a late model Buick sedan that was headed south on US 1. The Chrysler was attempting to head west onto Wildwood Drive; but the driver hit the southbound vehicle broadside in the intersection.

There were light rain conditions at the crash scene.

The Buick was driven by an older man and lady passenger; whose names have not yet been released. The passenger was treated at the scene then transported to Flagler Hospital by St. Johns County Fire Rescue.

Engine 11, Rescue 11, Florida Highway Patrol and the St. Johns Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene. An accident investigation is underway.
